Frequently Asked Questions

If I am a Hiker,

Do I have to arrange my own travel to Prague?

Yes. You are responsible from your own route, schedule, accommodation and travel companion as well as your arrival and staying in Prague.

Can I go to Prague with a flight? What kind of travel I have to make?

No. Being a hiker is not about arriving to Prague but the experience you get on the way. The idea is to travel slowly to make as many contacts as you can with the culture of the locations you travel through and come up with some scenographic ideas to bring to Prague. You can walk, hitchhike, ride a bicycle, scooter, motorcycle, car or use public transportation in a way that you can make stops in different locations to interact with the locals.

How long do I have to travel? Is there a starting date and a minimum or maximum duration of travel recommended?

This depends entirely on your itinerary, your means of transport, how much time you can spare. We suggest to take at least 8 days (150 km. on foot = 20 km a day is 7.5 days) This is quite a light schedule, but possible. You can also calculate longer times to stay and work on locations. You can start travelling anytime you want.
If you are a student participant, you can arrive to Welcoming space between 6th and 10th of June.

Do I have to travel alone?

No, you can meet other hikers and join them or organise groups to travel together.

How can I find fellow traveller to team up with?

You can meet other hikers who are sharing their locations on our Facebook and Instagram pages. We are also planning to a provide a frequently updated map to show who is where.

Do I have to make my location known to public during my travel? Can I keep it confidential?

You do not have to share your whereabouts, you can keep your instantaneous location confidential. But you should realise that you are expected to share your experience throughout your travel.
And also, by keeping your location hidden, you will avoid other hikers to meet you, join you or invite you to join them.

Can I sleep in the welcoming space?

No, welcoming space is only to create a scenographic idea of hospitality, and welcome the hikers and what they bring from their slow travel.
